BANK OF HAWAII CLASSIC: USD/FGCU RECAP

Honolulu, HI- #25 FGCU (4-0) came from behind to defeat the University of San Diego (3-2), 68-60, Sunday afternoon from the Stan Sheriff Center, in game two of the Bank of Hawaii Classic.

Stats (USD):

The Toreros shot 37.7% (23/61) from the field, 23.5% (4/17) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded the Eagles 37-36. San Diego dished out 12 assists, had 1 steal, and 4 blocks in the game. The Toreros forced 11 FGCU team turnovers while having 11 team turnovers of their own.

The Eagles shot 43.9% (25/57) from the field, 37.0% (10/27) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded by the Toreros 37-36. FGCU dished out 11 assists, had 6 steals, and 2 blocks in the game. The Eagles forced 11 USD team turnovers while having 11 team turnovers of their own.

Overview:

The Eagles and Toreros went back and forth in this clash from Honolulu. The Eagles did enough to earn the win against a tough and game San Diego squad. FGCU was led offensively by Alyza Winston who finished with a game high 19 points. TK Morehouse finished with 15 points, and had another solid game. The difference in the game was the 3 ball once again, and the Eagles shot 37% from beyond the arc, hitting 10 3 pointers in the game. San Diego only shot 23.5% from beyond the arc, hitting 4 3 point field goals. Shoutout to Emma List, who continues to do it all for the Eagles, and finished with 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.

San Diego was led offensively by Myah Pace, who finished with 16 points in the game. The Toreros guards balanced scoring at guard also included Kiera Oakry (12 points), and Kylie Horstmeyer (10 points).

#25 FGCU (4-0) looks to make it five wins in a row, as they face #2 Stanford (5-1), in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown, on 11/25 at 5:30 PM, from the Stan Sheriff Center.
